Our Spring Performance will be April 23, 2023

Since its founding, The Dance hub has developed a unique focus: dance classes and courses tailored to the particular needs of adult beginning and intermediate dancers. This focus is taken to its full potential by The Dance Hub Performance Group (TDHPG). As director Carrie Diamond says, “The pinnacle of our vision for adult ballet at The Dance Hub is the Adult Student Performance Group. It provides adult ballet students the opportunity to learn about the living artform of ballet through immersion in ongoing technique classes, rehearsing original choreography, and performing.”

To qualify for the group, your dance technique should be at a high beginning level or higher. We are looking for students who are enthusiastic about the creative process.

About ASPG

How much time would I need to commit to the program?

You will need to attend a minimum of two technique classes per week. Rehearsals will take 2-3 hours per week with additional rehearsal time scheduled near performances.

How much dance experience do I need?

You don’t have to have started ballet as a child to join the group! (Although it’s okay if you have). In fact, some of the dancers started their formal training recently at The Dance Hub. You should be dancing at least a high-beginner level. This is a learning experience and your commitment to the project is more important than your proficiency.

Is this a professional group?

No, this is NOT a professional group. That is not the point or purpose. It is an amateur group, meaning, the dancers love what they do and are highly motivated to do the work. ASPG is about immersion in the creative process, working hard, and having a good time doing it. We can’t stress that enough.

Does ASPG perform?

Yes! That is the whole point of the program. We cultivate a supportive and encouraging work environment, especially for those who are new to performing. ASPG performs annually on Up Close at The Dance Hub. During COVID, two performances per day are given with smaller audiences to allow distancing. We also plan to give outreach performances at senior residences and at afterschool kids programs.

Is there a cost?

Yes. Tuition for ASPG is $100/month for each month of the rehearsal/performance season. A typical season costs $600 to participate. In addition, ASPG dancers will be required to buy their costumes—at minimal cost. Scholarships are available.

How do I apply?
