Out There: A Dance Video by Victoria Finlayson
About the Video
When The Dance Hub had to shut down in March and Victoria Finlayson began to teach her class virtually on Zoom, she looked for a means to continue the creative work she had been doing with her students. The result is this stunning dance video, or as Merce Cunningham called it, “dance for the camera,” created in collaboration with students from her Virtual Intermediate Cunningham class: Hannah Ruth Brothers, Kara Le, Susan Shaberman, and Eloise Uranga. The original sound score is by Simon Blondell.
Out There: The Interview:

Even in a virtual format, it is possible to grow and receive helpful feedback. I find that the challenges of a virtual format are actually pushing me to develop a keener sense of musicality and strengthening both my ballet vocabulary and ability to remember exercise sequences.
